I recently was contracted to revise some icons for a product called Pro Landscape. I always enjoy designing icons. It’s extremely challenging to convey so much information on such a small canvas.

Illustrated Motivation

Until a friend forwarded me this video, I had never heard of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA). From what I can tell, they are the British version of TED. The RSA encourages “public discourse and critical debate by providing platforms for leading experts to share new ideas on contemporary issues.” One of those experts is Dan Pink who is the author of four books about the changing world of work. His speech, which was taken from his book, Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us
, is amazing in and of itself and will change the way you think about work. But the RSA did not stop there. They set his speech to someone drawing on a whiteboard, a la the UPS guy, which takes it from amazing to mind-blowing. Amazing Illustrator

Ryan Church is an extraordinary concept artist. If I had it to do all over again, I think I would have this as my profession. He is an amazing illustrator that works primarily in Photoshop and Painter. He is probably best known for his work on Star Wars: Episodes II & III but more recently he has worked on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, War of the Worlds, as well as Avatar. I actually own his Intro to Corel Painter DVD and found it quite useful when learning how to use it. Make sure to check out his personal work too. Unbelievable.

Coffee Cup Drawings

Cheeming Boey makes art. It just so happens that he does it on coffee cups with a Sharpie. He sat down to draw some people one day in a coffee shop and realized he had no paper so he grabbed a discarded cup and a new medium was born.
